Nagaraja is an independent tropical island label and concept store in Kai Bae, Koh Chang, Thailand.
We’re Jenny and Pepe. We came to Koh Chang in 2013 for what was meant to be six months. The island became our home, and the life we built here became the starting point for Nagaraja.
Before the brand had a name, we travelled to tattoo conventions with T-shirts featuring Pepe’s drawings. People connected with the artwork, and we began putting more thought into the fabrics, printing and details of each new piece. During a trip to Nepal in 2018, we chose the name Nagaraja, inspired by the naga imagery that had long been part of Pepe’s artistic world. In 2019, we began creating under that name.
Since then, our collection has grown from graphic T-shirts into clothing, scarves, pareos, bags and accessories. Pepe’s work as a tattoo artist and illustrator remains at its heart, bringing together Asian art, traditional imagery and his own visual language. Jenny brings her eye for colour, fabrics and the pieces that make their way into the shop. Travel and everyday island life continue to shape what we create and choose.
Our own designs are made in small runs, with attention to how they feel, fit and are finished. Alongside them, you’ll find pieces we’ve personally selected through our travels and relationships with makers, as well as independent brands we love. We choose them for their quality, character and the way they sit naturally alongside Nagaraja.
